Speed Up Metabolism

Many
of us want to speed up metabolism
which is is an important factor in how fast we burn calories and fat.
For some, genetics determines the rate of calorie burn and
unfortunately, as we age, the body's metabolism naturally slows on its
own.
The good news is
there are certain conditions we can control that are the key
boosting metabolism, losing weight and achieving
overall good health.
1. Exercise
A great way to speed up
metabolism is to exercise
at least three times a week and add interval training or bursts of high
intensity cardio moves to get your heart pumping. Studies have shown
that interval training twice a week in addition to cardio
exercise helped individuals lose twice as much weight as those who did
only the cardio
workout. Another great way to speed up metabolism is to include weight
training exercises. As you get older, the body's resting metabolic rate
drops, but lifting weights can jump start a sluggish
metabolism.
2. Eat
More Often
Eat five to six small meals/snacks a day. This will keep your body thinking that it's full and satisfied. Eating smaller meals more often speeds up the body's metabolism which helps burn more fat than simply eating three large meals every day.
3. Drink
8 Glasses of Water A Day
Drinking water
is the number one way to reduce
your overall appetite and it keeps the body hydrated which means
everything runs more smoothly. Bottled water,
tap water, filtered water ...
it's all good. Just
drink it! Better yet, drink ice water which burns more
calories and is a great way to speed up metabolism. Start with
a
glass of ice water before each meal and throughout the day since we
often mistake hunger for
thirst.
4. Use Spices In Cooking
Spices contain
capsaicin which increase your
heart rate and can raise metabolism by up to 50 percent for as long as
three
hours
after eating. Try using spices that contain capsaicin in place of
salt
and
pepper to speed up your metabolism such as Jalapenos and cayenne
peppers. The capsaicin in the peppers stimulates the body to release
more adrenaline, thus speeding up your metabolism and increasing the
body's ability to burn calories.
Capsaicin also
helps to moderate caloric intake.
Spicy food is more satiating than bland food, so you need to eat less
of it to
feel full. A spicy chili can stimulate brain chemicals that signal the
body
that it is full.
5. Eat
More Fiber
Fiber
requires the body to burn more calories
in order to digest it
so
it can help speed up metabolism. Dark leafy
greens are one of the best sources of
fiber as well as dried fruit. Other sources of fiber are whole wheat
pasta,
raspberries, bran and barley.Fiber also sends
that
feeling of fullness to your brain but it's not fattening and it
actually helps slow
the
absorption of fat from other foods you eat.
There are many
foods that contain special compounds that speed up metabolism
and increase calorie burn. For example, eating fish can
burn up to 400 calories a day
and is full of protein, which makes the body burn more calories to
digest it.
The Omega-3 in fish is also great for your heart.
Eat "good" carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits
and whole grains which have less of an impact on insulin levels. Simple
carbs such as sugar, bagels, white bread, and potatoes create
a
surge in insulin levels that in turn promotes the storage of fat which
does not help increase your metabolic rate.
Acai Berry Supplements
Acai berry supplements can help speed up metabolism so you can harness your energy, fight fatigue and increase endurance. When you eat foods that speed up metabolism and take acai berry supplements, the combined effect from the vitamins and minerals may serve to raise the body's metabolic function for instant energy and calorie burn.
